In the event of a campus emergency, Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (OSUIT) employs a variety of tools to communicate with the campus community and the public. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on campus by delivering timely and accurate information.
Emergency Communication Methods
Text & Voice Alerts
The Cowboy Alert system is available to all faculty, staff, and students. Register your phone through your O-Key account to receive text messages and/or voicemails. Go to “Campus Alerts” to subscribe to Cowboy Alert.
Social Media Updates
Stay connected with OSUIT on Facebook, Instagram, Threads or X for real-time updates during emergencies. Follow our accounts to ensure you receive the most up-to-date information.
Web Freeze
OSUIT can override the campus network to provide emergency notifications on all campus-connected computers.
University Group Email
In urgent situations, the university will send emails to all campus members with critical information and instructions.
Local Media
We collaborate with local media outlets—radio, television, and newspapers—to announce and update campus closures or emergency situations.
Weather Radios
Various offices across campus are equipped with weather radios to receive the latest severe weather information.
Patrol Car Announcements
Campus police cars have PA systems to communicate important information during emergencies.
Emergency Response Team
The OSUIT Crisis Management Team and the University President deliver emergency information to university administration. Based on their assessment, the administration develops messages and activates the appropriate communication channels.
In situations requiring immediate action, OSUIT Police may activate sirens and utilize other emergency tools.
