Full-Time Traditional Freshman or Transfer Student
Living on campus is a key part of the educational experience at OSUIT. Our single student housing and family apartments are safe, convenient, and affordable. All students taking 12 or more hours are required to live in the dorms unless one of the following applies to you:
- Your high school is less than 50 drivable miles from the OSU Institute of Technology campus.
- You are 21 or older at the time of application.
- You are married.
- You have a child.
- You have already lived on the OSU Institute of Technology campus for two semesters.
- You are enrolled in 12 or more hours of online classes.
If you receive an out-of-state tuition waiver, you must live on campus while receiving the waiver. Exceptions to this policy for your first year must be requested in writing, submitted to the housing office, and approved by the exceptions committee.
Students are encouraged to apply early for housing as space is limited. To reserve a room, a deposit of $150 is required ($500 for family apartments). Each housing contract is for two semesters. If campus housing is unavailable, you may be granted permission to live off-campus temporarily, with the understanding that you will return to on-campus housing when it becomes available.
Please complete the Student Profile section to assist our staff in assigning your roommate. If you have a specific roommate in mind, indicate their full name and social security number in the appropriate area of the Student Profile section, and submit both contracts together. We will do our best to accommodate all roommate and room-type requests.
Students aged 25 or older must apply for non-traditional housing. Prospective students who are married or have children are encouraged to consider family housing.
For more information on our residence halls, including costs, please visit the links for Lackey Hall, England & Hannigan, and Miller-Kamm.

Students living in traditional housing must select a meal plan, which can be used at the Student Union cafeteria and the University Market convenience store located in Wilson Commons. Find out more information about the food service meal plans here.
